WWE Hall Of Famer "Promised" He'd Only Wrestle 5 Years

The WWE landscape would've been VERY different had this legend stuck to his guns.

Kurt Angle initially "promised" himself that he'd only wrestle for five years before hanging up the tights.

Via his podcast, Kurt laughed as he recalled running into Al Snow backstage early on. When Snow asked Angle how long he planned to work, Kurt replied with a definitive "five years - I plan to make as much money as I can and get out".

Al laughed at that, then replied: "No way, brother. You're gonna be stuck in it for life".

Angle totally disagreed with that and was determined to stick to his guns. He'd signed a five-year contract with the-then WWF, and he planned to ride that out then leave pro wrestling behind once it expired. Yeah, that...didn't happen, which is something Kurt finds humour in today.

The ex-Olympian even signed a contract extension with the company before eventually leaving WWE for TNA (due to personal problems) in 2006. His five year promise thing hadn't worked out quite as he'd planned.

Kurt noted that Snow had been "exactly right". Angle is still involved in pro wrestling circles, in some form or fashion, in 2022.
