Following an initial report by John Pollock over at POST Wrestling, it's believed that Vince McMahon vs. Pat McAfee is now internally listed to take place at WWE WrestleMania 38.

This latest development comes via Dave Meltzer at the Wrestling Observer.

McMahon has been confirmed to appear on The Pat McAfee Show this coming Thursday, and it's expected that said appearance will be the launching pad for a 'Mania rivalry between the pair.

For those wondering, Vince has not laced up his boots since a Raw match against CM Punk back in 2012. Even then, that bout wasn't official and was just essentially a weaponised brawl between the two. In terms of an actual match, you have to go back to 2010 for McMahon's most recent formal bout - that being a WrestleMania XXVI contest against Bret Hart. Vinny Mac has had the odd moment where he's been involved in physicality in the years since that Hart bout; most infamously taking a stiff head-butt from Kevin Owens in 2017.

Of course, some are speculating that this McMahon vs. McAfee feud could actually see Austin Theory wrestling on behalf of the WWE Chairman, but the latest indicators seem to hammer home that Vince is indeed getting back in the ring at 76 years of age.

If indeed this does happen, VKM's in-ring return will be one of several major headline-grabbing stories going into WrestleMania 38 - joining the return to action of 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, Champion vs. Champion as Brock Lesnar takes on Roman Reigns, celebrity involvement from Johnny Knoxville and Logan Paul, and possibly an appearance from a returning Cody Rhodes.
