WWE Introducing New World Title After WrestleMania 38?

The "Unification" match isn't what it seems: WWE won't have one top champion for long.

As previously covered, WWE's planned "unification match" between Universal Champion Roman Reigns and WWE Champion Brock Lesnar isn't want it seems, with the idea that the company can have a single world champion working across Raw and SmackDown considered untenable by WWE itself.

While WWE will technically emerge from WrestleMania with one top champion, this won't be the case for long. Network considerations mean that Raw and SmackDown will both be represented by a world champion soon after the show.

But is WWE on the verge of introducing at least one new physical belt? Dave Meltzer appeared to suggest as much during a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, likening the situation to Triple H being named World Heavyweight Champion after literally being handed the old WCW World Title to kickstart his maligned 'Reign of Terror.'

This would presumably go to the new "unified" world champion after WrestleMania 38, who would then be undermined when WWE brought back the idea of having two top titles almost immediately.

Nonetheless, the advertising for Reigns vs. Lesnar has leaned heavily on phrases like "unification" and "winner take all", as murky as the post-'Mania situation appears.
