Eric Bischoff thinks WWE fans are "resisting" Austin Theory right now because "he's pushing a little hard" and it could be construed as feeling forced.

The company Hall Of Famer told fans listening to his '83 Weeks' podcast that Theory is a talented dude who's "in great shape", but maybe needs a little time off TV to find himself before trying again. Of course, Austin's slide down the pecking order coincided with Vince McMahon's soft retirement in the summer of 2022.

Theory, who won Money In The Bank that year and seemed a dead cert to become part of the main event pack, hasn't had the same focus under Triple H. Bischoff believes Austin has to "earn respect" from the pro wrestling audience before cracking into the upper tier permanently.

There's obviously still time - Theory is only 26 years old and has serious potential.

Eric isn't sure WWE's relentless push was the right call several years ago, largely because there was no clamour for it from the core audience. He's hopeful Austin can piece things together and go on to be a huge success though.
