WWE Newcastle Live Review - 9 Interesting Observations

1. Roman Reigns Is A Main Event Star

Roman Reigns isn't just a main event star for the future... he's a main event star now. He headlined the Newcastle show against Randy Orton in a 'Newcastle street fight' and was received as a genuine singles star. Coming out on his own through the crowd, Reigns got one of the biggest and most sustained cheers of the night. Loud 'Roman Reigns' chants followed. His eye was visibly swollen and black from the injury in Glasgow, but it didn't stop Reigns and Orton having probably the match of the night (it was a toss up between this and the Neville bout). Reigns proved he didn't need the Shield as he delivered his own moveset including the superman punch, the apron kick and finally the match winning spear. Along the way we had seen Orton do some sterling work too, including brawling in the crowd with Reigns and taking some stiff kendo stick shots. Reigns missed a spear and went through a table at one point but managed to recover. Ryback and Curtis Axel ran in, as did Ambrose and Rollins to close the match out with a full on brawl before Reigns hit the decisive spear for the win. Reigns looked the part of a main eventer and received a reaction like a main eventner. Surely this is one talent who is assured of a WWE title run within the year. Overall a good night and all the matches got plenty of time to develop into some variation of quality. Results - 1. Rollins & Ambrose beat Axel and Ryback 2. Rusev beat Sin Cara 3. Paige, Cameron & Naomi beat Rosa, Layla & Tamina 4. NXT Title Match: Adrian Neville beat Bo Dallas 5. Big Show beat Kane in a steel cage 6. IC Title Match: Wade Barratt beat Jack Swagger, Rob Van Dam, and Big E 7. Newcastle Street Fight: Roman Reigns beat Randy Orton
