WWE No Way Out: Kane To Replace Injured Alberto Del Rio?
Battle Royal or a Beat The Clock Challenge also discussed for this week's TV if a new opponent for Del Rio is needed.
In a follow-up to our earlier story on Alberto Del Rio, a WWE source has told sports blog Corey Unfiltered that Del Rio's concussion suffered at Tuesday night's SmackDown tapings was a "serious" one. The injury came when Sheamus slammed Del Rio's head against the metal WWE logo and WWE officials are concerned he won't get medical clearance in time for next Sunday's WWE No Way Out pay-per-view event. For last night's SmackDown live event in Salisbury, Maryland, Kane replaced Del Rio and reports are that WWE officials are discussing taking 'The Big Red Monster" out of the planned WWE Title triple threat match at No Way Out against CM Punk and Daniel Bryan so he can face Sheamus for the World Title instead, if Del Rio fails to recover. Personally, that idea would undoubtedly be the wrong move as at this point No Way Out's biggest selling point is the AJ Lee quadruple love/manipulation involving Punk/Bryan/Kane and who she will help to become victor in the title match. Removing Kane and making him an impromptu replacement for Del Rio in a non-feud against Sheamus seems counter-productive. As we earlier presumed, and which is clearly a better idea, WWE could plan a Battle Royal or Beat the Clock Challenge for this Tuesday's tapings (or even on RAW tomorrow night) and instantly elevate a mid-card superstar. The clear choice would be Dolph Ziggler. Meanwhile, Vince McMahon and Triple H are growing ever concerned that Del Rio can't be trusted for major storylines given his proneness to injury. Some are comparing him to former WWE star Mr. Kennedy whose regular injury concerns stopped many pushes and certainly did him no favours when WWE decided to release him in 2009.
