6. Nia Jax Makes Her NXT Debut Next Week
After months of promos and hype videos, Nia Jax will be making her NXT debut in one week’s time, on the October 14th edition of NXT.
Jax’s presence in NXT is going to be very interesting. Given the recent surge of interest in women’s wrestling on the program, adding another face to that growing division will add more diversity and curiosity, and it will further highlight how the perception of women’s wrestling is ever-changing. Furthermore, Jax is much bigger than any other woman in NXT.
Standing at 5’11 and weighing approximately 200lbs., she’s not only bigger than all of the women, but some of the men as well. This large stature will make her a unique draw in her own way, as her unique size will have a certain ‘wow’ factor to it.
It’s believed that Jax will be WWE’s attempt to create their own version of Awesome Kong, before she appeared (briefly) in WWE. As such, expect to see her taking part in squash matches for a while, as well as impressive demonstration of power and strength.
Given her unique stature, family ties (she’s a cousin of the Rock, after all), and WWE’s growing emphasis on women, it’s fair to say that Nia Jax will be a long-term fixture of NXT programming.
