WWE NXT Takeover Unstoppable Results

The divas put on the best match and Samoa Joe debuts in WWE.

The second WWE NXT Takeover special took place last night on WWE Network. It was called "NXT Takeover Unstoppable" and took place at Full Sail University in Orlando. The event was shown on WWE Network and it was two hours long with a 30 minute pre-show. Here are some results with brief analysis on the show. When the pre-show came on the air, they showed an "earlier today" video of Hideo Itami down in the parking lot. He was grabbing his shoulder. Kevin Owens was shown walking by saying "that's a shame." Itami legitimately needs shoulder surgery and is out for six months at least, so this was a storyline way of writing him out. During the pre-show, Stephanie McMahon was interviewed outside the building. She said she loved NXT and was there to watch as a fan. She said she was particularly excited about about the NXT Women's Title match. During the broadcast, she was shown sitting in the front row. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3b-S_XA5Ic Finn Balor d. Tyler Breeze - Balor was in his demon gear with his font and back full of body paint. A fantastic entrance for him. It was a #1 Contender's match that was going to be a three way, but Itami is hurt. Balor hit a great move when he jumped off a part of the set design to take out Breeze with a cross body block. Balor won clean soon after in a very good match. Charlotte & Bayley d. Dana Brooke & Emma - It was a basic tag match that saw Charlotte get the win for her. Charlotte is likely headed to the main roster very soon. Baron Corbin d. Rhyno - A physical match that put over the younger wrestler in Corbin, which was no surprise at all. NXT Tag Titles: Blake & Murphy d. Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady - It looked like Enzo and Big Cass were going to beat the new champs, but Alexa Bliss attacked Carmella at ringside and then she tripped up Enzo when he was on the top rope. Thanks to Bliss, Blake and Murphy got the tainted victory. Eva Marie was shown at ringside. She's been training hard and learning to wrestle, so perhaps she'll wrestle in NXT starting at the tapings today. NXT Women's Title: Sasha Banks d. Becky Lynch - This was the best and longest match of the night. Banks was methodical with the way she worked on Lynch's left arm and Lynch also attacked the arm of Banks to set up her armbar finisher. After nearly 20 minutes of intense action in front of a hot crowd, Banks got the submission win with the Banks Statement. They got a standing ovation after the match too. It's so nice to see women getting a chance wrestle longer matches like they do on NXT. NXT Championship: Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn ended in a No Contest - Zayn was really aggressive early and hit all of his signature moves against Owens. It looked like Zayn might be able to win this time. After about eight minutes of intense action, Owens caught him and dropped him with a stiff Powerbomb on the ring apron. Referees and a doctor checked on Zayn soon after. The match ended without an official result although Zayn's inability to continue made Owens a winner in that sense. After the match, Owens wanted to further damage Zayn. William Regal came out try to stop that, but Owens attacked him too. That's when Samoa Joe made his WWE debut by slowly walking to the ring to get in Owens' face. They didn't brawl at all. They just stared. Owens backed away while the fans chanted for Joe. That's how the broadcast ended. It was an excellent NXT Takeover special as has become the norm for them. The opening match, divas match and main event were really fantastic and a reminder that WWE is headed in the right direction because it's pretty clear that the future is bright after watching another successful NXT special. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIV1FLJ84o8
