Here's the message WWE sent to its roster following Shannon 'Daffney' Spruill's tragic passing.

WWE has sent its roster a message offering mental health counselling in the wake of Shannon 'Daffney' Spruill's tragic passing.

PWInsider's Mike Johnson published the following text sent out to the roster on Thursday, extending a hand to anyone within the company who needs it:-

"As a reminder to our Talent, if you are dealing with a difficult personal matter and would like to speak with someone to get the support you need, please don’t hesitate to contact [Counseling Company Name Withheld] at [NUMBER DELETED] or WWE Medical."

A kind and necessary gesture at what will be a difficult time for many within the wrestling business, given recent news and the ongoing strain of operating while a deadly virus is still at large. Normalising open conversations about mental health is to be encouraged at all levels.

A tragic story unfolded on Wednesday, as Spruill uploaded a troubling Instagram Live video that sparked worry across the internet, leading to emergency services reportedly trying to make contact with her. Sadly, Spruill's passing was announced the following day, with her family requesting privacy.

Spruill, 46, is best known for her time as Daffney in WCW. Debuting with the promotion in 1999, she was with the promotion until budget cuts saw her let go in February 2001.
