WWE Planning New Designs For Titles

If rumors are to be believed, the current designs of the Intercontinental and United States Championships will soon be exchanged for new ones.

A Reddit user known as dvizzle - who uses the name "Da Belt Guy" on BeltTalk.com - recently posted that both championships were set to be redone, though he did not offer a timetable on the production. It should be noted that dvizzle correctly reported the return of the WWE Women's Championship weeks before it actually happened at WrestleMania 32, and also accurately described the much-maligned design of the WWE Universal Championship before it was unveiled at SummerSlam.

The current United States Championship design is a slight update of a design that was used from 2003-2014 (excepting John Cena's brief run with a spinner version of the title). The belt was acquired from WCW in the buyout of the company, but where the previous version had a small American flag logo, WWE decided to make the entire front plate of the title a garish red, white, and blue.

The Intercontinental Title, meanwhile, has existed in its current form (again, with a slight update in 2014) since 2011, when the current "throwback" look was revealed.

There have been no details offered about the new designs, except that they're not giant logos a la the world and women's championships.
