WWE Pulls Major Elimination Chamber 2020 Match

Elimination Chamber is imminent, and with only a week to plan for the PPV (thanks for that Super ShowDown!), it appears that WWE has decided to go ahead and cancel the once-planned men's Elimination Chamber match.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE will only be holding two Elimination Chamber matches this year: the women's bout and the SmackDown Tag Team Championship match.

The Wells Fargo Center had previously advertised a men's Elimination Chamber match, and it was expected that the winner of said match would end up going on to face 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania. But the events of Super ShowDown (during which Goldberg won the gold) and the subsequent confirmation that Goldberg would defend that gold at 'Mania against Roman Reigns threw all of that into doubt, and now the match is no longer being advertised.

While many of us probably still convinced ourselves into thinking another men's elimination chamber match might take place instead, it seems that there won't be any at all now.

The baffling decision to straight-up hand Reigns a championship match at WrestleMania didn't go down all too well with the WWE Universe, so you can rest assured that fans won't be happy to hear they've been robbed of what could have been a classic No. 1 Contender's match inside the chamber.
