The latest NXT TakeOver offering wasn't that good.

Saved by its talented roster, TakeOver: In Your House 2021 had a different feel to it. This was officially the first TakeOver since the end of the Wednesday Night Wars; they needed to prove something here. As banging as that main event was, they didn't achieve this.

Bronson Reed and MSK vs. Legado del Fantasma started off slow before transitioning into a hot affair. Mercedes Martinez and Xia Li had a dull match to hamper the mood, before it was brought back up by Cameron Grimes and LA Knight's decent Million Dollar Championship ladder match. But the former Eli Drake became the champion, rather than Grimes. In one match, the mood had both improved and regressed.

Raquel Gonzalez and Ember Moon's Women's Championship outing was alright when it didn't focus on Dakota Kai's intervention at ringside. Ending on a high following the epic fatal five-way main event and William Regal's cliffhanger ending, this TakeOver failed to properly find its feet.

Still, it was a TakeOver. It wasn't the worst thing in the world; it was a case of having a strong history to follow. How much do you remember about it, though?
