WWE Raw Review: 10 Big Talking Points (Jan 18)

1. Main Event Interview: The Highlight Reel

Where's the JeriTron 6000? Jericho proclaims himself, Roman Reigns, and Brock Lesnar as the three favorites to win the Royal Rumble which is usually a sign that none of those guys are going to win the Royal Rumble. Paul Heyman interrupts and promises some pain later tonight but Jericho is not Brock's concern, Roman Reigns is the target. Jericho counters by saying Heyman was trying to get Brock out of the Royal Rumble because he doesn't think Brock can win. I smell a lot of pain coming Jericho's way if he keeps badmouthing Brock like this. Heyman promises an all-expenses paid trip to Suplex City for everyone in the Rumble but Jericho isn't buying it and gets in Heyman's face. Brock has finally had enough and makes his presence known. Paul Heyman's facial expression as he heard Brock's music was awesome, like he knew bad things were going to happen and he tried to prevent them but Jericho just wouldn't shut up. Roman Reigns makes his entrance before Brock enters the ring and Reigns greets him with a spear. The League of Nations immediately hit the ring and beat down both guys but that spear only upset Brock and he immediately suplexes Rusev. Lesnar drops Del Rio directly on his head, delivers an F5 to Sheamus and gets caught with another spear by Reigns. Well, you just guaranteed that the fans are going to hate you on Sunday, Roman. Brock is out as the Wyatt Family hits the ring and takes out Roman. They turn their attention to Brock and also beat him down. I'll personally give Brock $500 if he rips that stupid beard off of Rowan's face. Bray Wyatt plants Brock with Sister Abigail and the Wyatts stand tall as Raw fades to black.

Final Thoughts

A solid show heading into the Royal Rumble on Sunday as the heels stood tall at the end and you were left wondering who would win a Reigns vs. Brock showdown. Jericho made himself very scarce at the end of the show which might come into play on Sunday. I like the strong booking of the Wyatts though because it gives them four monster heels in the Rumble match and you need those guys to clear out some dead wood and soak up some minutes. Also on the plus side, you have a couple legitimate threats to win the whole thing and have an interesting storyline with Roman entering at #1. I'm not sure if Roman Reigns is built to go an hour in the Rumble but I guess we'll find out on Sunday. I just hope we don't get the Triple H surprise ending but chances are that's where they are heading since they want to do Triple H - Reigns at Wrestlemania. WWE also did a good job filling out the card with Del Rio vs. Kalisto, Ambrose vs. Owens, Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch, and New Day vs. The Usos. The Royal Rumble event has always been sold on the Rumble match itself, so those matches just need to not suck out loud and bore the crowd. A good, solid effort heading into the Rumble, so hopefully WWE delivers on Sunday when it matters.
