WWE Raw Tag Team Championship Match Added To Royal Rumble 2017 Kickoff
Sheamus and Cesaro defend against The Club one more time...
Ever since Cesaro and Sheamus won the Raw Tag Team Titles from The New Day, The Club has been a thorn in their side. Now, the former three-time IWGP Tag Team Champions will get another chance to capture the belts, and this time, nothing will be left to chance.
On Monday's Raw, it was announced that the two teams would meet at the Royal Rumble kickoff show, and that two referees would be assigned to the bout. That extra precaution will likely come in handy, as on last week's Raw, a title match between the two teams ended in controversy. Sheamus accidentally knocked out referee John Cone as the bout started to head to the finish, and in the confusion, The Club took Cesaro down with the Magic Killer. Referee Darrick Moore counted the three and declared The Club the new champions, but when Cone was roused, he reversed the decision, disqualifying Sheamus and thus keeping the titles on the champions.
The Royal Rumble kickoff shows airs this Friday at 5:00 PM ET on the WWE Network. Other bouts scheduled for the evening include WWE Champion AJ Styles versus John Cena, Universal Champion Kevin Owens versus Roman Reigns, Cruiserweight Champion Rich Swann versus Neville, Raw Women's Champion Charlotte versus Bayley, and the Royal Rumble match.
