WWE Recycled Several Sanity Pitches With RETRIBUTION

It turns out Sanity and RETRIBUTION shared more than just a similar WWE aesthetic...

Some of what WWE fans saw of RETRIBUTION during the Mustafa Ali-helmed stable's ill-fated run in the promotion was originally intended for Sanity.

This is according to Alexander Wolfe, who told Fightful Select that some of RETRIBUTION's original moves had been pitched by Sanity members ahead of their arrival on SmackDown in 2018, when the group made the switch from NXT.

Wolfe formed part of Sanity's most successful lineup with Eric Young, Nikki Cross, and Killian Dain. Cross was left behind in NXT when the rest of the stable was called to the main roster, though they were scarcely used on SmackDown, barely featuring on television before the 2019 Superstar Shake-Up sent Young to Raw. Wolfe and Dain returned to NXT in the aftermath, with the former joining Imperium.

On top of this, Alexander stated that some of what Young's new stable, Violent by Design, has done in IMPACT Wrestling has been born of ideas EY had in the past.

Wolfe was one of eight NXT names on the list when WWE announced another round of releases last month, as the promotion opted against renewing his contract, which expires in mid-June.
