WWE has come to terms on the release of Nia Jax.

Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp tweeted out news that the company had terminated Nia's contract on Thursday night. She wasn't the only one. A staggering 17 other wrestlers were also released, and there could be more coming - the site asked for an official reason, and were given "budget cuts" as a response, but they're currently unaware if the total number will grow for definite.

Nia signed with WWE in 2014, established herself in the NXT women's mix and then went on to become a stalwart on the main roster. She's a one-time former Raw Women's Champ and two-time Women's Tag-Team Champion (both with Shayna Baszler).

Jax was last seen being choked out by her old pal Baszler in just two minutes on the 20 September edition of Raw. Since then, she'd been posted missing, but most fans reasoned that creative were just letting Nia cool off before working her next program.

That won't happen, because Jax' WWE run is over (at least for now). It'll be interesting to see what's next for her.
