WWE Reportedly Wants Conor McGregor Appearance

Is UFC's double champion heading for WWE?

Conor McGregor made history on Saturday night. In defeating Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, McGregor became the first fighter to ever hold belts in two different UFC weight classes, the first man to win an MMA main event in New York state, and if Dana White is to believed, he's about to shatter his own PPV buyrate record.

The Irishman has reached a level of popularity than transcends MMA, and according to the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer, he's "very much" on WWE's radar.

Meltzer confirmed that WWE are interested in bringing McGregor in during last night's Wrestling Observer radio. Triple H was photographed in attendance UFC 205, and given Conor's recent interactions with WWE superstars, an appearance makes complete sense.

McGregor threatened to "slap the head off the whole WWE roster," back in August, singling-out John Cena ("a big, fat, 40-year-old failed Mr. Olympia") and Brock Lesnar's failed UFC drug test for special criticism. Half the WWE roster responded in kind, and McGregor won't be short of rivals should he make an appearance.

McGregor's cult of personality and microphone skills would likely bring a significant upsurge in viewers, and his outlandish persona is essentially a classic wrestling heel act anyway. Him and WWE go hand-in-hand, even if it's just a single appearance.
