WWE Reveals New Women's United States Title On SmackDown
Latest on WWE's brand new belt. Will Raw follow up with a Women's Intercontinental Title?
Brand GM Nick Aldis proudly revealed the brand spanking new Women's United States Title on this week's episode of WWE SmackDown. During his promo, Aldis spoke of rewarding the women's division for their hard work, and said the roster was stacked full of top athletes who deserved rich prizes to hunt.
Now, WWE's women have another one to go after.
This remains to be seen, but there's a solid chance Nick's counterpart Adam Pearce announces a Women's Intercontinental belt over on Raw soon. That'd make sense, and it'd be in-keeping with the brand separation between those titles on the men's side. It's either that or Triple H decides to make this new US version cross-brand - it's hardly like WWE pays much attention to their own brand split anyway.
There's no word quite yet on exactly when the company will crown their initial champ. However, Aldis was careful to mention during his speech that the title would be earned rather than handed out (which might've been an inside joke Hunter scripted at his own expense; he was literally handed the old World Heavyweight Title by Eric Bischoff in 2002).
Bayley Could Be In Line To Become First Champ!
Bayley has been struggling ever since losing the Women's Title to Nia Jax at SummerSlam. The huggable babyface lived some sensational highs in 2024, including winning January's Royal Rumble then vanquishing old Damage CTRL stablemate IYO SKY at WrestleMania 40, but she hasn't done much of note since then.
On Friday, announcers Michael Cole and Corey Graves openly discussed how out of sorts Bayley has been over the past few months. Is that WWE's way of dropping a hint that she'll get right back on track by becoming the first ever Women's United States Champion? Don't rule it out.
Bayley beat Candice LeRae on the show, and it looks like her tag-team alongside Naomi has been iced in the short-term so both can concentrate on singles goals. Naomi will get a crack at Nia's belt on next week's episode, which leaves Bayley in limbo. Perhaps donning the new US strap would be a cool way to get her mojo back.
