WWE Roadblock: 5 Guarantees & 5 Possible Surprises

9. Surprise: Superstars Appearing In Dark Matches

Not only is Roadblock billed as a two-and-a-half to three-hour show on the WWE Network, it appears the company is going all out by treating the event's live crowd to a handful of dark matches on top of the huge main card contests. While the announcement that there will be a handful of matches before the event gets underway isn't much of a shock, the surprise will be seeing who gets the opportunity to perform. WWE's roster will be severely limited on the night, with two shows happening simultaneously as well as an NXT event in Poughkeepsie, New York. WWE could easily put together a couple of matches resembling what you'd see on Superstars, but the purpose of dark matches is to test a live crowd's reactions to performers without the cameras rolling. There is little to gain from boring the crowd with D-grade performers before an event that's designed to 'wow'. It all ends up leading to an intriguing question: who is going to wrestle in the dark matches? The answer may just give us an insight into who WWE is eyeing off for bigger and better things.

Overly-opinionated Australian WWE smark who is definitely not #booty. Slowly angering the IWC one article at a time. We will probably strongly dislike each other - let's be friends! @MattKMarsden
