It was 24 January 2000 when this writer watched the seconds tick past on the school clock, finally heard the bell sound after what seemed like forever and sprinted home to watch his prize. Approx 15 hours earlier on 23 January, his dad had slid a spare VHS into the machine and began recording the 2000 Royal Rumble for his boy (Mae Young's prosthetics and all).

That Rumble event in 2000 is cherished for several reasons. It handed Tazz a memorable WWF debut, Jeff Hardy performed a death-defying Swanton Bomb from atop a taxi cab, Cactus Jack and Triple H had a violent, bloody Street Fight and The Rock won the titular Rumble. What a time to be alive it was, but what happened to those folks who delivered such powerful childhood memories?

The 34 roster members here all had matches on the card. That's important to remember, because they're the ones examined. Anyone who only popped up in backstage promos or other non-wrestling segments didn't make the cut. Don't worry, there's a lot to get through...
