Royal Rumble 2023 looks set to be laden with crown-popping surprises should WWE gets its way next weekend.

PWInsider's Mike Johnson reports on four names that could be set to appear on the 28 January premium live event after varying periods on the sidelines: Edge, Beth Phoenix, Logan Paul, and Doudrop.

Edge had previously been linked to a Hell In A Cell match opposite Finn Balor at the Rumble. Johnson's writeup states that 'The Rated-R Superstar' is currently lined-up to return on the show, though there's no word on whether or not the HIAC match is still in play. Like his wife, Phoenix, Edge has been out of commission since The Judgment Day's brutal beatdown at Extreme Rules 2022 (8 October), with the limited dates on his contract the reason behind his spaced-out appearances.

Phoenix is slated for the Rumble too, with her exact role also uncertain.

Paul, who has rehabilitated his knee after suffering what appeared to be a severe injury while wrestling Roman Reigns in November, is good to go. He has been mentioned as someone who could be involved at Royal Rumble 2023 as well.

Out of action since September, Doudrop is expected to return to television around the time of the Rumble, which was the word backstage during last week's television tapings. The Scot will remain assigned to Raw upon returning.
