Joe Hendry Vs The Miz was potentially on the cards in WWE before plans changed on the pair.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, WWE had serious plans in place for a crossover storyline involving the current TNA World Champion and the 'A-Lister', but the angle was ultimately scrapped before it ever aired. The report reveals that earlier this year, there was a creative pitch for Joe Hendry to appear on WWE Raw, with the Hendry ultimately ending up involved in a storyline with The Miz following a loss in a match between the two.

However, the idea never got off the ground. Sources indicate that Ariel Schnerner, a since-deposed TNA executive - wasn’t on board with the proposed direction, reportedly objecting to the concept, possibly due to Hendry’s expected loss. As a result, the storyline was nixed before it could move forward. Interestingly, Fightful noted that a separate incident involving WWE NXT talent who had requested Schnerner not be present in their locker room at the height of the ongoing NXT/TNA crossover. The report added that the request wasn’t due to personal issues, wrestlers reportedly felt the space should be reserved for talent only.

Hendry's first and last appearance for WWE as of writing as at the 2025 Royal Rumble, following a 2024 mini-run in NXT that included a shot at Ethan Page's NXT Championship at No Mercy. While the teased feud with The Miz obviously didn’t pan out, the idea of Hendry crossing over into WWE programming remains a tantalising possibility for fans hoping to "believe" in him making it on an even bigger stage. He'll be in Las Vegas over WrestleMania weekend, working a mixed tag match at TNA Unbreakable alongside Masha Slamovich against Frankie Kazarian and Tessa Blanchard on April 17th, and is booked to appear at WWE World doing autographs later that weekend.
