WWE Scrapped THIS In-Ring Return On Last Week's SmackDown

WWE almost delivered an in-ring return on SmackDown last Friday, BUT...

WWE scrubbed what would have been Scarlett's first match for the promotion since returning earlier this year from last week's SmackDown taping.

Fightful Select, who had previously reported WWE had Scarlett involved in a post-show dark match on 2 December, states that sources have attributed the situation to an "internal error." It was either that or a cancelled pitch settled prior to Friday, with one source commenting "[Scarlett] being in a match would have been a surprise to her."

Scarlett was initially pencilled in to team with Karrion Kross and Damian Priest against Braun Strowman, Matt Riddle, and Liv Morgan. Fightful's sources have indicated that although Scarlett was never informed that she would be stepping between the ropes, her and Kross' plans for SmackDown were put together "well before Friday."

Six months have passed since Scarlett last competed, having stepped through the ropes for MLW in June. Her last WWE bout was a June 2021 SmackDown dark match with Shotzi. With Kross on Raw at the time, WWE appeared to be trying Scarlett out as a solo act, though both were released in November.

Kross and Scarlett were re-signed this August, returning on SmackDown.
