WWE Sign Japanese Women's Wrestler Kanna
That's why she appeared at NXT Takeover Brooklyn last night.
World Wrestling Entertainment has signed Japanese women's wrestler Kanna to a contract, which is why she appeared on camera at NXT Takeover Brooklyn on Saturday night. Kanna was shown at ringside following Samoa Joe's win. She was conveniently placed beside WWE Hall of Famers Ric Flair and Sgt. Slaughter. She simply stared into the camera while the crowd cheered at the sight of two legends enjoying the show. Her name used to be spelled Kana with one "n" but WWE likes to trademark names of their talent, so they added the second n to it, reminiscent of when Taz became Tazz once he signed with WWE 15 years ago. According to Japanese wresting reporter Enuhito, WWE signed Kanna few weeks ago: "I am told that KANNA signed with WWE a few weeks ago. (I cant say who he told me.) But I am not told that she appears on the show tonight. KANNA did not take WWE Tryout at Ryogoku Sumo Hall last month. She was checked beforehand. I am sure WWE will soon officially announce this contract. Good luck, KANNA!" There was also a Kanna discussion on Wrestling Observer Radio when Dave Meltzer noted that they showed her on screen likely because she has signed. Their guest on the show, Pat Laprade, said that he knew Kanna from SHIMMER shows and while at NXT she said she wouldn't be at the next one, which is a big clue that she has indeed signed with WWE. Kanna is 33 years old, has been wrestling for over ten years and is considered one of the best women's wrestlers in the world. She has wrestled for Pro Wrestling Wave, Smash and American indy women's wrestling company SHIMMER as well as other promotions all over the world. She's also very good at speaking English, so it's easy to see why WWE would want to bring her in. This is more proof that WWE will sign talent from anywhere as long as they think they are a fit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TVUncuqiYc
