WWE SmackDown Ratings: Viewers Drop This Week

Viewership for the October 15 SmackDown was down, nearly falling below 2 million viewers.

With the recent crisis in WWE surrounding WWE RAW's plummeting television ratings, it should come as no surprise that the company's "B" show, SmackDown, is also experiencing a decrease in viewers. This week's October 15 edition of the show drew 2.09 million viewers. This was a slight drop versus what the show drew last week, 2.15 million viewers. SmackDown finished Thursday evening as the fifth most watched show on cable television, trailing the MLB playoff game between the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers, the NFL Thursday Night Football game between the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints, Project Runway, and a Thursday night college football game on ESPN. SmackDown has been a floundering show for many months now. WWE puts no real emphasis on the program's importance in promoting any major storyline developments or major matches. SmackDown is firmly positioned in lame duck status right now until the show's eventual switch to the USA Network in early 2016. When the program moves to the USA Network, WWE is planning on pushing the show in a way that has not been done in years. Major storylines and matches will start appearing on the show once more, and Jerry Lawler even indicated during a recent interview that there is a possibility of the show airing live on Tuesday nights. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFHmISgotoI
