WWE SmackDown Star Pulled From Match And Replaced

A SmackDown star was replaced by someone from Raw in a late WWE change on Friday night.

WWE scrapped an advertised match between Aliyah and Shotzi from Friday's SmackDown lineup.

Both women had been scheduled to meet in a Money In The Bank qualifier on the show, but the company replaced Aliyah with Tamina last-minute. The Raw star then lost to Shotzi, which means the blue brand's ex-tank-loving heel is in the ladder match mix on 2 July.

She joins Lacey Evans, Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez and Asuka in the MITB match; WWE still has one slot to fill for the women's ladder bout, and they'll do that on Monday's Raw or next week's SmackDown before the pay-per-view.

What does this mean for Aliyah though?

There's no word on exactly why she was pulled from the match, but WWE might fancy sticking her in as the final MITB entrant. Therefore, logically, she couldn't do the J.O.B for Shotzi on this week's episode. In short, it might not be a bad thing that creative decided to take her out of the frame on SmackDown.

Aliyah has struggled to make an impact as a ditzy, well-meaning babyface since moving from NXT to the main roster during last year's WWE Draft.
