WWE Star Montez Ford Undergoes Surgery

Otis' recent SmackDown assault on Ford was a cover-up for real-life surgery.

WWE SmackDown wrestler Montez Ford has undergone what the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer describes as voluntary surgery.

Thursday saw Ford tweet a picture of himself fist-bumping one of his kids from a hospital bed. Per Meltzer, this was a legitimate surgery, though it's something that Montez himself chose to do rather than a procedure related to an injury.

Ford isn't expected to be out of action for a significant length of time following his surgery.

Montez suffered what was put over as a brutal beating by Otis on the 11 September of SmackDown, which was likely done to cover for this real-life procedure.

Drafted to SmackDown with his Street Profits tag team partner Angelo Dawkins in October 2020, Ford immediately became a blue brand Tag Team Champion when the Profits swapped belts with The New Day, who'd been sent to Raw. They then dropped the straps to The Dirty Dawgs in January, not fighting for them again until WrestleMania SmackDown on 9 April.

Otis' beatdown of Ford came following a match between Montez and Chad Gable, which ended via disqualification in Ford's favour as a result of the attack.
