Johnny Gargano will wrestle his first match in nine months on next week's episode of WWE Raw.
The recent returnee confirmed as much in a backstage segment. Interviewed by Sarah Schreiber, he spoke of his acclaimed NXT run, saying that he had much to accomplish now that he was on Raw, before he was interrupted by former The Way stablemate Austin Theory.
Theory, who has been jostling with Gargano since Johnny's return, said that all his former mentor had done since coming back was talk. Gargano responded that he was on the verge of announcing he was returning to the ring next week prior to Theory's interruption, warning Austin that he should be careful.
WWE is yet to announce who Gargano will face on Raw. The former NXT Champion is building towards something with Theory, whose latest attempt at cashing in his Money in the Bank contract failed at Clash at the Castle, with boxer Tyson Fury knocking him out before Austin could intervene in Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns.
NXT's WarGames special on 5 December 2021 hosted Gargano's last wrestling match. The 35-year-old left the company following his contract's expiration later that month, returning in August 2022.
