WWE SummerSlam 2016: 10 Awesome Moments

SummerSlam is now all wrapped up, and nobody can argue that WWE failed to provide value for money. Including the three Kickoff show matches, the promotion aired a gigantic thirteen bouts on the annual pay-per-view, including no less than six title matches. Admittedly, one of those didn't end up taking place, but it was still a jam-packed event regardless.

There were spectacular moves from the top rope, bruising announce table bumps and even some fairly major returns. Along the way, WWE handed the opportunity for a relatively fresh announcer to cut his teeth in one of the biggest main event matches of the entire calendar year.

Grumbles will always be there, WWE can't hope to please everyone. What they can do is reflect on another SummerSlam supershow, one that ended with the potential for a huge money-making match somewhere down the line. Shane McMahon vs. Brock Lesnar has box office written all over it, and is surely bound to occur following what happened.

Including that particular moment, let's look at all the awesomeness SummerSlam had to give...

Sheamus and Cesaro have become quite familiar with one another since the WWE Draft put both on Monday Night Raw. At first, it looked like the former may actually be slightly forgotten about as management shone the spotlight on others, but the 'Best Of 7 Series' idea is a fine use of the Irishman.

It would all have been for nothing had things not kicked off in fine fashion at SummerSlam. Ironically, those in charge decided to put the first bout in the series on the Kickoff portion of the show, something that could have been a death knell for selling the importance of the concept. Thankfully, both men were handed a load of time to work with, eating up virtually the entire last half hour of the pre-show.

This was awesome to see, because a short match would have killed the 'Best Of 7' idea before it really had the chance to gain momentum. Those complaining about the Kickoff decision will likely feel better once the series develops, it's surely ending on pay-per-view sometime over the next few months.
