WWE SummerSlam Update: 8 Matches Announced

With no Cena and Lesnar on Raw, others had a chant step up as the full SummerSlam lineup was announced.

This week's Raw really wasn't a great episode of WWE's Monday night show, but they were able to finalize the SummerSlam lineup. For the past few weeks we have been able to confirm a few matches, but after Raw we know eight matches that are definitely happening at the summer spectacular on August 17 in Los Angeles. They're listed on WWE.com now, so let's have a quick look at all of them. John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship - The main event of the show was furthered on Raw by airing a video package with comments from Lesnar and Cena. Neither guy was at Raw, so it was smart of WWE to air the video package. They actually aired it twice just so they could make sure people saw it. http://youtu.be/S0AIIusp_Ko Both men are expected to be at Raw next week. It will be the first time that both of them will be on Raw together prior to SummerSlam. Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton - It was furthered a bit on Raw with the two men talking some trash, but Reigns wasn't able to get his hands on Orton to exact revenge for the beating from two weeks ago. The feud feels a bit flat. They will need to do something more on Smackdown or Raw next week. Stephanie McMahon vs. Brie Bella - This feud has main evented Raw two weeks in a row. That's historic for two women. It's been an odd placement for it, but when there's a McMahon involved that should never surprise us. Stephanie dominated the Bella Twins on Raw with a Pedigree to each of them. Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt - It's a rematch from Battleground, which was a win for Jericho. This time around Luke Harper and Erick Rowan won't be at ringside because Jericho beat both of them in matches. It would be a major shock if Wyatt didn't win here. Jericho is expected to stay in WWE until Night of Champions in September, so that will probably be their third match after they each win one. Jack Swagger vs. Rusev in a Flag Match - Here's how WWE.com describes it: "At SummerSlam, Old Glory will be hanging in one corner of the ring and the Russian flag in another, and the first Superstar to incapacitate his opponent enough so he can scale the turnbuckles and capture his own flag will be declared the victor." You don't see flag matches very often, but WWE is likely doing it as a way to have Rusev lose without getting pinned or submitted. Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins - This match is finally going to take place at SummerSlam after being advertised at Battleground and not taking place. The stipulation that is added to it is that Ambrose gets to pick the stipulation for the match since he beat Rollins in a Beat The clock challenge. Don't be surprised if Ambrose makes Rollins put the Money in the Bank briefcase on the line. We'll find out the stipulation on Smackdown. AJ Lee vs. Paige for the Divas Title - They didn't further the story much on Raw. Paige just did an interview backstage while video aired of her brutal attack on AJ from Smackdown. The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Title - Ziggler's match with Cesaro was a two minute special, which is ridiculous considering how talented they are. The feud has been pretty average. What's missing from the card are the tag team champions The Usos and the US Champion Sheamus. There may not be room for anything else on the card, so they are probably going to sit this one out. It's sad that WWE makes time for Fandango's awful storylines on Raw yet they don't seem to care about the tag team champions. SummerSlam takes place on August 17th in Los Angeles and is available on WWE Network, which costs only $9.99 per month in the US. We're sure that WWE appreciates us letting you know. We'll continue to have updates relating to SummerSlam if there is any sort of breaking news or additions to the lineup.
