WWE Teases Dean Ambrose Staying With Company?

The Shield try to convince departing superstar to stick around.

Dean Ambrose's impending WWE departure really is the longest goodbye we can recall in recent wrestling history.

We learned back in January that the 'Lunatic Fringe' had turned down a new contract offer from the company, news which his employers subsequently confirmed.

Since then, he's been on a seemingly never-ending farewell tour. Dean made an impromptu appearance when the post-WrestleMania Raw went off the air to say goodbye to the fans, and repeated the cameo last week in Montreal.

Apparently unable to take the hint, Ambrose will again feature in a valedictory piece later this evening, as The Shield's 'Final Chapter' airs on the WWE Network.

The departure has been so protracted that at this stage it almost feels like a Ziggleresque rib. "Fooled you all!" we can imagine him saying, because you know, he's unpredictable.

Anyway, WWE added further fuel to the increasingly tedious fire labelled 'Dean's not really leaving' by last night publishing a video in which Ambrose's Shield buddy spoke at curiously intimate length about their flak-jacketed mate's departure.

WWE tend to not to dwell on wantaway superstars leaving the company, let alone joking on camera with colleagues about convincing them to stay. They almost seem a little too eager to make the most of this exit, if you get our drift.

At this stage, Dean is definitely heading out of Stamford. For how long, remains a wholly different question.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
