WWE The Horror Show At Extreme Rules: Every Match Ranked From Worst To Best

Expectations were (mostly) exceeded.

The Horror Show at Extreme Rules is yet another example of a WWE show that few were massively hyped for on paper, yet which delivered a surprisingly consistent slew of entertaining bouts.

Outside of its scarcely coherent main event, this was a rock solid night of wrestling that kept up a fast pace and was over in barely 2.5 hours. Why can't more WWE PPVs be like this?

There were certainly a few too many screwy finishes - a common WWE complaint, in fairness - and we're clearly getting a lot of rematches out of this show, but the moment-to-moment action mostly delivered above and beyond expectations.

There's not much here you'll remember by year's end - beyond that insane Eye for an Eye match, that is - but duds were in mercifully short supply, and it was a largely entertaining showcase for some of the roster's strongest talents.

Not an Extreme Rules for the ages, then, but it nevertheless delivered more than the basic goods...

8. Swamp Match: Bray Wyatt Vs. Braun Strowman

Result: Bray seemingly drowns Strowman and re-emerges as The Fiend.

Rating: The law of diminishing returns is clearly setting in with WWE's cinematic matches, but the biggest problem with this fight was just how sloppy it looked technically-speaking.

From the terrible editing to the horrible lighting, it was visually hideous for the most part, and there just wasn't enough imagination in the storytelling to compensate.

Alexa Bliss' cameo as "Sister Abigail" was fun, and we got to see a guy unexpectedly set aflame, but most of the match was a clumsy shoulder shrug.

It thankfully didn't last too long, but given the potential for silliness it was actually surprisingly boring and ultimately a dud of a main event. 2/10
