WWE To Put Emphasis On SmackDown After Brand Split?

Good times ahead for the blue brand.

News continues to break regarding the forthcoming WWE brand split and what shape it will take, with the latest idea being that it all bodes pretty well for SmackDown.

According to F4Wonline, it is thought that the emphasis, at least to begin with, will be put squarely on the blue brand. This explains the rumours that John Cena will be headed to SmackDown, and one can assume he will be joined by many other big name players.

The brand split seems to have been born out of the USA Network's displeasure with SmackDown and the ratings it was pulling in. An emergency meeting between USA and WWE was held with a view to addressing the problem, and it was clear that the blue show needed to have an identity that would distinguish it from RAW. This was seen as a major reason for the poor ratings, and the brand split is the cure.

Once SmackDown goes live on July 19th, expect it to get enough focus to bring it up to the importance level of Monday Night RAW. At least initially anyway, as such things have been tried before only for WWE to lose interest and focus in the show, leaving it to become an afterthought once again.

Here's hoping 2016 will be different.
