WWE Told This Female Star They Didn't Want Her "Natural Hair"

"I finally feel like I got to that point of I don’t care".

WWE's Naomi was the most recent guest on New Day's 'Feel The Power' podcast.

Most of the episode was nothing to write home about, but the former SmackDown Women's Champion did include one interesting revelation: WWE didn't want her to wear her "natural hair" when she first debuted with the company back in 2009. They then reiterated that before she traded FCW developmental for the main roster in 2012.

That's why Naomi had poker-straight hair during her run as one of Brodus Clay's 'Funkadactyls'. It wasn't her choice - WWE's thinking was that they wanted both Naomi and fellow back-up dancer Cameron to have the exact same hairstyle.

Fair enough, but Naomi was determined to show off her culture by wearing her hair naturally at some point. She'd eventually gain enough confidence to start rocking up to shows with wilder looks, and credits her 'Feel The Glow' persona for giving her enough sway to start experimenting.

After the company rebuffed her original hairdo, Naomi told herself, "Once I make it, I’m going to be me". She finally reached a point where she thought, "I don't care" and stopped straightening the 'do just to please someone else.
