Result: AJ nails Nakamura with the Styles Clash to retain the title (20:20).

Rating: Even though it landed on the higher end of the night's matches, this was still an undeniable disappointment.

Handicapped by a slow start, there's no way any crowd should've been this quiet for a match starring these two men, and while it was never going to match their Wrestle Kingdom battle, it fell so oddly, dispiritingly flat for the most part.

There were too many rest holds, neither man felt like they were giving a WrestleMania-caliber performance and it just never reached that higher level. Perhaps a shorter length with a more consistent, frenetic pace would've worked better.

The ending was also a bit of an eyebrow-raiser: it's pretty sad that both Royal Rumble winners were unsuccessful in their title attempts. The post-match heel turn was pretty neat, though, seemingly reflecting fans' frustration at Nak's treatment in his WWE run so far.

By any regular standard a good match, but highly underwhelming for these two. 6/10
