WWE's 10 Greatest On Screen Weddings

5. The Undertaker And Stephanie McMahon

Stephanie McMahon was a new television character in early 1999 as she was set to "marry" The Undertaker on the April 26, 1999 edition of Raw. She was carried to the ring on an Undertaker cross by members of the Ministry of Darkness: Faarooq, Bradshaw, Mideon and Viscera. She was screaming as she was carried into the ring and placed up against the ropes. The Undertaker was tormenting Vince McMahon, so he capitalized on the situation by forcing Vince's daughter to marry him. It was officially called a an "Unholy" or "Dark" wedding as Paul Bearer performed the ceremony while Stephanie was screaming as it looked like she had to marry The Undertaker, who was called the "Lord of Darkness" by Bearer. It actually reached a point where Bearer announced them as husband and wife, but it wasn't really official. The save was made by "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, who was feuding with The Undertaker at the time. He didn't make the save for Vince McMahon. It was done because it was the right thing to do. After Austin cleared the ring, he untied Stephanie and then she gave him a big hug. Vince showed up to see his daughter and she gave him a huge hug too. In what was an awkward sight at the time, Vince was thanking Austin. As we came to find out about one month later, Vince was in on the whole thing and set up his own daughter. It was his way of gaining Austin's trust to lure him in. This was right in the heart of the Attitude Era period, so it's no surprise that WWE would try a wedding during those days because they always generate interest, even when they were unholy like this one was.
