Bad news for the popular New Day star.

The New Day have been all over the upper echelons of WWE programming lately, with Kofi Kingston's rise to prominence peaking with his WWE Championship win over Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35.

The popular trio celebrated on SmackDown and Raw, and competed in a trios match against Sheamus, Cesaro, and Drew McIntyre on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, it looks like this could be the last time we see Big E wrestle for a while.

E suffered a torn meniscus when his knee buckled during the SmackDown bout, per the man himself on Twitter:-

WWE have followed up with their own confirmation, and Dave Meltzer writes in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter that he'll be undergoing minor surgery for the meniscus tear and other cartilage issues.

It's hard to tell how long Big E will be absent for. Recovery time for such an injury can vary from anywhere between 3-4 weeks all the way up to 3-6 months, depending on the treatment. Perhaps he'll be able to stay on television in a non-wrestling capacity if his issues fall towards the less severe end of that scale.

Regardless, we wish Big E all the best in his recovery.
