WWE's Elias STILL In Creative Limbo After 8 Months

Musical superstar had plans for a return nixed, still awaiting the call.

Have you wondered where Elias has been the past several months? So have we, and the answer seems to be "around, but not on his way back to TV yet."

The drifter was last seen in a WWE ring in July after getting pummeled in his rivalry with former running buddy Jaxson Ryker (who himself has since been released). A couple of vignettes appeared in August saying that Elias was "dead," which seemed to hint at a character change.

Fightful Select reports that Elias was set to return to TV donning trunks rather than his trademark jeans. This proposed new look was displayed in WWE 2K22 reference photos, but the getup was kiboshed by none other than Vince McMahon because the chairman believed Elias looked too much like Randy Savage... as if fans were going to mistake ELIAS for a legendary Hall-of-Famer who last appeared in WWE nearly 30 years ago.

Regardless, that was the end of the booking plans for Elias. The vignettes disappeared, and Elias fell off the radar. Still, Fightful indicated that other vignettes were filmed for Elias and he was scheduled to return to Raw, but without firm plans, it's tough to expect anything.

Lastly, Fightful noted that a name change was pitched, but there's no indication of what that could be or whether it'll happen. It's still astonishing when you realize how many people work in WWE creative (writers, producers, agents, McMahons) and yet there are so many tales of wrestlers being kept off TV because "creative doesn't have anything" for them.
