With WWE currently touring Japan, the legendary Meiko Satomura has announced that she will retire in April 2025, which will mark the end of a 30-year career for the veteran.

On this topic, Fightful Select notes that those within NXT were not surprised to hear about this retirement, with Meiko having barely been used by the brand over the past 18 months or so. The outlet also adds how Satomura hasn't been present at an NXT taping since her March 2023 Roadblock match against Roxanne Perez, nor has she been present at the WWE Performance Center. Only the Final Boss herself and WWE higher-ups are aware of the reasoning for Meiko's prolonged absence.

The belief is that Meiko Satomura will not be used on WWE programming again before her formal retirement, and it's also doubtful that the 44-year-old will get a WrestleMania swansong.

From those Fightful spoke to, there was nothing but praise for the coaching work done by Satomura in both NXT and NXT UK. For now, Satomura is said to be focussed on growing her Sendai Girls promotion in Japan, and it's expected that Meiko's final run will take place in Japan - although a US return can't be totally ruled out.

While retirement is now very much on the horizon for Meiko Satoumra, she has been in action as part of WWE's Japanese tour, teaming with Bayley, Jade Cargill, and Bianca Belair to beat Damage CTRL and Tiffany Stratton on both Thursday and Friday, before then unsuccessfully challenging Bayley for the WWE Women's Championship in Tokyo last night
