For anyone wondering what happened to the reported special effects WWE had planned for Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio's Eye for an Eye match at The Horror Show at Extreme Rules, Dave Meltzer has come through with a snippet in today's Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online Daily Update column.

Meltzer writes that WWE had scripted a scene involving Mysterio's eyeball being popped out of its socket, using prosthetics to create the effect, though this was scrapped when Vince McMahon changed his mind. The bout was taped earlier in the day and the WWE Chairman and CEO opted to switch everything up but Rollins vomiting in response.

The classic "plans change" explanation, then.

Rollins and Mysterio worked their wacky stipulation will, crafting an ugly, violent fight before a clunky finish that had Seth on the verge of stomping Rey's eye into the corner of the ring steps, only for officials to wave it off as the eyeball had already come out. Viewers only saw a brief glimpse of the eye itself, which looked like a painted ping pong ball.

Rollins appeared to enter a new feud with Mysterio affiliate Aleister Black on last night's RAW, defeating the Dutchman in the opener.
