Would WWE boss Triple H really book this 'Stone Cold' match at WrestleMania 39?
Baron Corbin might be on WWE's 'maybe' list for Steve Austin at WrestleMania 39.
The Wrestling Observer reports that there's "smoke to the fire" of Austin working another bout for the company, and it's believed 'Mania 39 will be his next in-ring appearance. Despite wild rumours about matches vs. CM Punk or John Cena though...yeah, Triple H could have someone else in mind.
'Stone Cold' worked well with WWE regular Kevin Owens at 'Mania 38, so the new WWE boss may believe that programming Austin with another full-timer (rather than a more glamorous part-timer) is the way to go. Currently, both Austin Theory and Corbin are being considered for that role.
The pro wrestling fanbase at large would blow up if JBL's client Baron was plonked opposite 'Stone Cold' for the icon's second match since 2003. Let's be honest here, that would not be a popular choice. Would Corbin care? Absolutely not, and nor should he, but there's still a bad taste in the mouths of many following his retirement scrap opposite Kurt Angle at 'Mania 35.
Again, this is just an internal shortlist of possible rivals for Steve - nothing has been decided.
