You're Going To Hate WWE's Original Plan For Shane McMahon At WrestleMania 38
What WWE originally had lined up for Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 38, before plans changed...
While the phrase "plans change" doesn't typically come with positive connotations in WWE, many a wrestling fan will be glad that the plan outlined below didn't come together.
On today's episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that WWE originally intended on having Seth Rollins wrestle Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 38. This would have kicked off at the upcoming Elimination Chamber 2022 show.
Like Rollins, Shane was originally going to be part of the Chamber match itself. This was changed, with WWE making the decision not to include McMahon at some stage prior to announcing the bout's lineup on last night's Raw, though there's no word on how this will relate to Shane's role at 'Mania.
Meltzer mentioned that he didn't know whether or not the WWE Title (!) would have been involved in Shane vs. Seth. Lashley defends that belt against Rollins, Austin Theory, AJ Styles, Brock Lesnar, and Riddle inside the Chamber on 19 February.
WWE's plans for Raw's top belt at WrestleMania 38 are currently unclear. Shane, meanwhile, is set to embark on a heel run, with WrestleMania and Chamber matches supposedly in the works.
