Zelina Vega's New OnlyFans Account Led To WWE Release
WWE suddenly released Vega on Friday after opening a new OnlyFans account.
Zelina Vega was in fact released from WWE due to her failing to comply with the company's new edict on third party platforms, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports.
With Vega's release being announced soon after her "I support unionization" tweet, many wondered whether this was one of the reasons behind her sudden departure from the company.
However, Meltzer is now reporting that Vega was let go after not following the company's new rules which forbid stars from using the likes of Twitch and other third party platforms independently. Her decision to open an OnlyFans account under a different name also reportedly didn't help her case with the people in charge. It's being speculated that the former WWE star was forced to choose between her Twitch account or WWE contract, with Vega choosing the former due to her being one of the only women in the company who actually earns more money through social media than she does from her WWE contract.
It was also noted by The Observer that the old way of making money in WWE was based on PPV paydays and house show attendance. Both of these options have disappeared at this time. Also, wrestlers who signed contracts post-AEW are said to be less vocal about concerns due to these names having higher-guarantees.
