Born RuPaul Andre Charles in San Diego, California, RuPaul has become arguably the best known drag queen of all time. She began her meteoric rise to fame in the early 90s performing her unique style of genderf*ck drag in the New York club scene. Her hard work paid off, eventually securing a record deal which resulted in her iconic first album Supermodel and hit track Supermodel of the World (You better Work), which rose to No.45 on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at No.2 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play Chart. RuPauls rise to stardom continued when her cover of Dont Go Breaking My Heart with Elton John reached No. 7 on the UK Singles Chart. Shortly after which she became the face of MAC Cosmetics; the first drag queen to become a supermodel and later landed her own hit celebrity talk show The RuPaul Show on VH1. In 2009 RuPaul saw a huge resurgence in her popularity thanks to her hit TV show RuPauls Drag Race, which is a competition to find Americas next drag superstar. The popularity of this awesome show has resulted in RuPaul revitalising her music career with the hit chart topping albums: Champion, Glamazon and Born Naked. She has even launched her debut perfume Glamazon, a makeup line produced by Color Revolution as well as a peanut butter flavoured chocolate bar.
