10 Amazing Comic Book Covers DC Wants You To Remember

It's OK to judge these books by their covers... in fact, DC wants you to!

When it comes to comic books, the story and artwork are the most important aspects of the book. Even though that's true, nobody is going to pick up an issue and read it if the cover art is terrible, which is why cover art is the most important aspects of any comic book ever published.

DC Comics has been around since 1934 and has introduced the world to some of the most iconic superheroes ever created. Batman, Superman, the Flash, and Wonder Woman are only a small number of the incredible characters the company has produced, but nobody would know about them without the beautiful cover art made over the years.

Seeing as DC has been around for nearly a century, there are tens of thousands of covers they might want you to remember (and quite a few they wouldn't mind you forgetting). Among those thousands, there exist only a few that stand above the rest.

The comic book covers considered to be the best often contain some of the most well-written stories ever told, which is why many of the books on this list will be familiar. Whether they were pivotal issues or not, these comics are the ones DC is best known for... and for good reason.

10. Watchmen #1

Man Of Steel 1 Variant Cover
DC Comics

Watchmen has long been considered to be one of the best comic book graphic novels of all time. The book won the Hugo and Eisner awards in 1988 hand has since been adapted into animation, a feature film, and a live action series set for release in 2019.

The cover illustrated by Dave Gibbons has gone one to become one of the most iconic covers of all time. The rather simple image of a Smiley Face with blood dripping down has become the symbol for the Watchmen franchise.

Not only was this an impressive book with a memorable cover, the art itself is coveted by collectors. The cover drawing was sold at auction in 2013 for a rather hefty price.

An anonymous buyer purchased the piece for $155,350! Gibbons sold the books in their entirety years ago for far less than what they are making these days at auction. Despite losing out on a ton of cash, Gibbons' work will forever go down in the annals of comic book history as one of the most iconic covers ever illustrated.
