Back in the misty days of 2003, when social networking had yet to engulf our lives and mobile phones were still used to make calls, Buffy the Vampire Slayer came to the end of his historic 7-year television run. It was a bittersweet farewell as, though many agreed that the show had its fair share of ups and downs over the years and had more or less run its course, it would still be sad to see some of their most beloved fictional characters go. Fortunately, however, they weren't gone for long, as in 2007 Dark Horse Comics started publishing Buffy Season 8, an official continuation of the series sanctioned, executive produced and occasionally written by creator Joss Whedon. The comic proved so popular that it was followed by a Season 9 and the recently-begun Season 10 which both also incorporate a continuation of Buffy spinoff Angel in the form of Angel & Faith. As you can tell from that description alone, that's a lot of comics. And if you thought there was some weird stuff in Buffy on TV, just wait 'til you get a load of what the creators put on the printed page. One of the obvious appeals telling stories with comics is that there are almost no budgetary concerns, which means that you can pretty make anything you want within the limits of your imagination.
