10 Insane Alternate Versions Of Spider-Man You Won't Believe Exist

You are screwed if you live on Earth-7161; Peter Parker is a chubby video games designer who never became a hero.

Marvel ComicsMarvel ComicsA question for the comics industry: how do you know when you have too many alternate versions of a character? When you can put out a whole miniseries about those realities coming together and the different characters teaming up to save the multiverse. Which is exactly what's gonna in Spider-Verse, an upcoming crossover event which will see dozens if not hundreds of the alternate Spider-Men we've met across the years all converging in one place to do whatever dozens if not hundreds of alternate spiders can. We've already looked at a handful of the coolest different Peter Parkers who've popped up over the years, but there are a lot more besides them that you can expect to see in Spider-Verse. And probably a few who won't be making an appearance, with good reason. There's some pretty awesome What If? stories and multiverses with weird takes on Spider-Man, but there's many more that are just totally insane. The sort that are beyond all realms of good sense or taste. These are ten insane alternate versions of Spider-Man you won't believe exist - but they totally do.

10. Peter Parker: Game Designer

Marvel ComicsMarvel ComicsThe Peter Parker we all know and love doesn't have the best time of it. Sure, there's the superpowers, but his life has been marked by tragedy after tragedy, as family members and loved ones are constantly dying around him, either directly because of his activities as Spider-Man or because just because of that infamous Parker bad luck. As we'll see from this list, though, that it could actually be worse. Much, much worse. He could be a bitter, morbidly obese games designer, for one. In Sensational Spider-Man #41 we are introduced to the Peter Parker of Earth-7161, who is just that. Instead of being bitten by a radioactive spider at a science exhibit that would have endowed him with both great power and great responsibility, he got distracted by a classmate and the eight-legged freak was accidentally crushed beneath a passer-by's feet. So this Peter grew up hateful and misanthropic, an orphan and bullied geek who never got the chance to be a hero, turning his anger inward and became an unfulfilled computer game designer. Who actually kinda looks like Doctor Octopus. If he just sat in a La-Z-Boy all day.
