10 Marvel Characters Who Deserve Their Own Disney+ Series

7. Yon-Rogg

Red Hulk General Ross
Marvel Studios

Clearly, Yon-Rogg’s story is not yet over. He was very deliberately kept alive at the end of Captain Marvel, and barring an Abomination style bus crashing, will return in Captain Marvel 2 (whenever that is).

However, there are a few complications with Captain Marvel. If she stays in the ‘90s, she remains completely disconnected from the rest of the saga. Jumping forward though skips key moments in her potentially ‘more than friendship’ with Maria Rambeau. With Maria’s daughter Monica, Spectrum in the comics, featuring in Disney+ show WandaVision, that only makes it more compelling too.

Let’s just press pause on all this for now though. Rather than looking forwards, there’s still a lot of unanswered questions going backwards. Yon-Rogg was clearly the villain of the film, but did he and his crew know exactly what they were doing? Or was he simply following Ronan’s orders? Exploration of the Kree-Skrull conflict post Carol’s influence might be an interesting direction to explore.

This does bring in the further complication of Gemma Chan though. The British actress played Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel, but has just been cast as Sersi in the upcoming Eternals movie. Surely if Marvel does go in this direction though they’ll figure something out.
