10 Reasons To Be Excited For DC's New Age Of Heroes

9. Damage

DC New Age of Heroes
DC Comics

Going for all-out action and explosions, the book can be described with one simple word: BIG!

Damage will be the new title by Robert Venditti and Tony Daniel. The series follows Ethan 'Elvis' Avery, a soldier who goes through a government experiment to make him a government controlled answer to a world filled with superbeings.

Of course, as with all experiments in comics, this has some unfortunate consequences. Firstly, Avery can only use the power for an hour a day... but that power turns him into a massive, destructive monster that he has no control over.

Essentially being turned into a weapon of mass destruction by his own government, that they can just aim at an enemy and watch the ensuing destruction, it leaves Avery having to deal with the damage in the aftermath of his use.

A little bit like DC taking a turn at the Incredible Hulk, but with shady government connections adding a new wrinkle to the concept, Damage aims for bombastic, explosive storytelling. And they will be aiming big in the very first issues, setting Damage against the (literally) biggest adversaries in the DCU in the form of Solomon Grundy, Parasite and Giganta, as well as the rest of the Suicide Squad.
