As already mentioned, Star-Lord first appeared in the 1976 comic Marvel Preview #4. Any old comic in decent condition is worth something and in particular when it's a milestone of some description. In completely mint condition, a copy of the comic in which Star-Lord first appeared has a raw value of around $3,900, but a graded copy can go for anything up to double that at a cost of $7,800. Value obviously deteriorates as the condition of said comic gets poorer, but even a copy considered to be in merely "fine" condition can sell for around $117. The key point is that if you have a pristine copy of Marvel Preview #4, you're sitting on a small fortune.
